Activities for the First Week of School

While we are all enjoying our summer vacation, I know many of you are just like me: already thinking about this coming school year. I guess we just can´t help it. With every new school year brings the oppurtunity to incorporate new ideas, activities, and strategies. In other words, a new beginning. I am currently adding on to my activities for those first weeks of school when building and establishing classroom community is so important. I would like to share my plans with all of you. I will continue to add posts as I add to my list of activities. Here are some new activities I am adding to what I usually do:

1. Back to school roll and color (I found that here).

2. ABC book for school words (found here.) When this is complete, I will have it bound into a book and add it to our classroom library. Kids love reading books that they helped create.

3. Mind your manners classbook (found here). This is great as it helps to set up student-behavior expectations for the year. This will go nicely with my Nieghbor unit I do at the beginning of the school year (I will be sharing that with all of you soon).

I hope you find this helpful. I will continue to share my ideas. I would love to hear some of your ideas for the beginning of the school year.

On a side note, I am in the middle of creating a series of math bump games which I will also be sharing with all of you for free. :)
